Dr. Wootton, DVM
Dr. Wootton fulfilled his dream to become a companion animal veterinarian when he joined Lien Animal Clinic in 2018. His path into the profession, however, was a winding one. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Wootton developed a fascination with the Pacific coast at an early age—an interest which directed him to the University of California at San Diego where he earned a Bachelor's degree with a focus in marine science. He remained in San Diego for an additional year, and obtained a Master’s degree in 2012 studying thresher sharks at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. For the next two years, Dr. Wootton split his time between working as a marine scientist aboard the SSV Robert C. Seamans, and working as a veterinary technician at his local veterinary emergency practice. He was accepted into the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014, where he completed his veterinary training, earning his DVM in 2018. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to West Seattle.
Outside the hospital, you may see Dr. Wootton running through town with a soccer ball at his feet, playing guitar at a local open mic, snowboarding at Alpental or backpacking in the Olympics. He is so excited to be serving the Seattle community and living where there are so many adventures to be had!
