The association sets standards for quality pet care in veterinary hospitals and conducts regular inspections of member hospitals. As a hospital member, we meet the association’s high standards in 18 different areas, including patient care, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, pet health records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental and nursing care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and continuing education.

Adherence to the AAHA standards is voluntary and currently only 17% of the small animal practices in the United States are AAHA accredited.
